IEEE Young Professionals make a statement at IEEE Honors Ceremony
Young Professionals had the privilege of sharing the stage with this year's esteemed award recipients at the 2018 IEEE Honors Ceremony. While Rafal Sliz, Chair of IEEE Young Professionals, gave a speech about young people's role in driving innovation, IEEE President Jim Jefferies and IEEE President-Elect José Moura announced the new IEEE Theodore W. Hissey Outstanding Young Professional Award, the highest level recognition a Young Professional member can now earn in IEEE. The award is a tribute to Ted Hissey, IEEE Life Fellow and Director Emeritus, for his tremendous support of the IEEE Young Professional Community, and will acknowledge young individuals for their contributions to advancing technology for humanity. Nominations are now accepted on the online portal. The deadline is 15 June 2018. |
IEEE Young Professionals 2018 Face to Face Meeting
The IEEE Young Professionals Committee met in May for a two-day meeting, aimed at addressing current barriers and challenges faced by Young Professionals volunteers at all levels. With both Technical Society Representatives, Region Coordinators, and MGA leadership present, the group identified six key issues, and will dedicate the rest of the year in creating materials and detailing solutions to help all young volunteers across IEEE, regardless of their parent unit. The meeting demonstrated the importance of volunteers from different parts of IEEE working together for the greater good, and exchanging knowledge. |
The Institute: Nominate the Next Leaders of IEEE for 2019 and 2020
Anyone may submit a nomination for volunteering positions, and self-nominations are encouraged. Nominators do not need to be IEEE members, but nominees must meet certain qualifications. To learn more about the available positions, requirements, and to submit nominations, check the online portal here. While the deadlines for Corporate Officers and Committee Chairs has passed, the deadline for IEEE Committee Members is 15 June (note that nominations for other committees, like those under MGA, have different deadlines). Young Professionals, make sure you do not miss this oppotunity and submit your nominations! |
