SYPLC’23 is the largest IEEE event in Lebanon so far with over 200 attendees developing their professional and soft skills. Organized by the IEEE Young Professionals Lebanon Affinity Group on March 18, 2023, at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, the event aimed to help students and young graduates transition from college to the workplace. Speakers discussed topics such as personal branding, soft skills, and emerging trends in AI and sustainability. The organizers are committed to delivering high-quality events and plan to host more technical events in collaboration with other companies and professional entities.

An initiative of the IEEE Young Professionals Lebanon Affinity Group, SYPLC 2023 is the biggest IEEE event in Lebanon, gathering people from all over the country, from various backgrounds and career levels. This is the fifth edition of SYPLC held on March 18, 2023, at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) in collaboration with the IEEE USEK Student Branch. The event aimed to facilitate the transition of students and young graduates from college to the workplace.
SYPLC 2023 was an engaging event with a breath-taking lineup of speakers and an enthusiastic audience. Esteemed professionals such as Eng. Christophe Zoghbi (Founder of Beirut AI and Zaka AI), Mr. Christophe Khoury (Lead Mentor and Advisor, Meta Developer Circle: Beirut), Dr. Charbel Fares (Entrepreneur and CEO) and Dr. Hayssam Serhan (CEO of Neos Interactive Ltd.), gave talks on the skills required to break in the modern tech world ,while other speakers like Eng. Tannous Iskandar and Dr. Nada Sarkis tackled the topics of creating a your own story and strategically unlocking potentials respectively. Dr. Rita El Meouchy, Founder of El Meouchy Education, Consultancy and Training, informed attendees about the importance of personal branding and how to effectively define their own. Emerging trends like elevating your profile with AI and modern sustainability goals and targets were also discussed.
The congress amassed an audience of more than 200+ people coming from all corners of Lebanon, who had the chance to connect with fellow peers and learn from multiple experts. The organizers found it quite pleasing to see this big number of students and young professionals excited to work on their soft skills and develop their connections, and they are hoping to see this excitement in other IEEE events as well. Salam Lababidi, 1st year student at UOB, said that “Attending this event was a great opportunity for me to gain knowledge and insights from industry experts and professionals. I had the chance to network with peers, learn about new technologies and advancements, and engage in thought-provoking discussions. The event was informative, engaging, and thoughtfully organized.”
Nisreen Dankar, a student from BAU, shared that “the congress provided valuable insights into the latest advancements in technology and networking opportunities with experts from various industries. It was a great experience to learn from the keynote speakers and connect with fellow professionals.”
The IEEE Lebanon Young Professionals are committed to delivering events of the outmost quality. The SYPLC’23 was just the start of what this team has prepared for Lebanese youth in 2023. This affinity group has been awarded the “Best Affinity Group Award for the year 2022” from the Lebanon Section. They are planning to host the biggest technical events in the country in collaboration with several companies and professional entities.
