Our team is comprised of engineers from industry and academia with various engineering background disciplines. IMPACT contributions come from IEEE volunteers across the world. Karishma Noor
Noor E Karishma Shaik is a final-year Ph.D. student currently exploring multispectral thermal pixel technology at the University of Melbourne. Prior to this, she has pursued her master’s at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. In a happy fusion of work and volunteering, she likes pushing knowledge boundaries and serving the global community. She is also serving as Student Activities Coordinator at IEEE Victorian Section. Her recent awards in IEEE include Richard E Merwin Scholarship and Outstanding Student Volunteer at the Victorian section. She is passionate about increasing women’s participation in computer science and related engineering technologies to aid communities around the world.
Editors
Arjun Shetty
Arjun Shetty is currently working as a Device Engineer at Intel Corporation. Prior to this, He worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute for Quantum Computing, University of Waterloo, Canada. He obtained his PhD from the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Science. His thesis involved the development of Schottky diodes and photodetectors using III-nitride thin films and nanostructures grown using molecular beam epitaxy. Post his PhD, he worked as a Sr. Device Engineer at Sandisk India Device Design Centre, Bangalore, India for two years where he worked on silicon NAND flash memory device reliability.
His research interests broadly span III-V semiconductors, quantum devices, low dimensional electron transport and solid-state memory devices. Arjun has been an active IEEE member for over 4 years now and was recently elevated to the rank of Senior Member. Arjun is passionate about writing and science communication and hopes to bring interesting stories from the unpublicized corners of science and engineering to the readers of the IMPACT blog.
Dinuka Jayaweera
Dinuka Jayaweera is a Computer Science graduate and currently works as a Business Analyst. She is a passionate volunteer and a student mentor who has ushered programs for the betterment of youth and she actively engages in activities for empowering women in technology. She has served IEEE at the local level for IEEE Young Professionals and IEEE Industry Applications Society. She was the Editor-In-Chief for IEEE Young Professionals publication – IMPACT for the previous 3 years. As the Social Media Chair her vision is to help members grow both personally and professionally by sharing educational content from IEEE sources and highlighting activities of IEEE Young Professional around the globe.
Aravindhan Anbazhagan
Aravindhan Anbazhagan is an active volunteer of IEEE for the past 8 years. He has been actively involved in volunteering and has enabled organizing 150+ students, Young Professional & educational activities across Region 10 as a dynamic volunteer. He is the past recipient of global recognitions including, the Richard E Merwin Student Leadership Scholarship (2014), the Continuous Service Award (2019) for his contributions towards IEEE Computer Society, the MGA Larry K Wilson – Outstanding Asia-Pacific Student Volunteer Award (2016), MGA Young Professionals Achievement Award (2019) and the EAB Meritorious Achievement Award in Pre-University Education (2018) for coaching and mentoring Pre-University students in STEM.
Apart from his role at IEEE Young Professionals IMPACT blog, he also leads the IEEE Madras Young Professionals Affinity Group & chairs the IEEE Inspire India, an educational initiative funded by the IEEE New Initiatives Committee. Professionally, he founded an educational video channel – EduRiseGlobal supporting quality online education in different languages.
