
Ashan Imantha M. H. Bandara
Ashan Imantha M.H. Bandara is a committed volunteer within the IEEE network, bringing over ten years of diverse experience. Currently, he serves as the Vitality Lead, having previously held roles such as Vitality Volunteer on the YPC and AG Coordinator for the Oceania Region in IEEE R10.
He also serves as Treasurer for the UQ IEEE HKN - Mu Kappa Chapter. A dedicated member of the IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) since his graduate studies, Ashan has significantly contributed to the IEEE PES Sri Lanka Chapter and was appointed Industrial Coordinator for the IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka Chapter in 2020.
He co-founded IEEE Y2NPro, a vital initiative supporting young professionals in Sri Lanka, while also implementing a robust financial policy framework. Ashan holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Philosophy in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Peradeniya. He is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Queensland, focusing on the electrical control of hybrid power plants, with research interests in renewable energy integration, power system control, and microgrids. In his free time, he enjoys wildlife photography and choral singing.
