The validation of AEMO’s dynamic models for Distributed Photovoltaics (DPV) and Composite Load (CMLD)

This presentation explores the validation of AEMO’s dynamic models for Distributed Photovoltaics (DPV) and Composite Load (CMLD), using major real-world power system disturbances from early 2024 as reference points. It presents an evaluation of the DERAEMO1 and CMLD models within PSS®E, focusing on their ability to replicate load shake-off, transient responses, and operational demand swings following disturbances and during periods of high DPV penetration. Through comparisons with traditional ZIP load models, the presentation highlights significant improvements in both transient and steady-state accuracy.
