IEEE Young Professionals Region 9 with the support of IEEE SIGHT Region 9 and IEEE Region 9, are implementing the HackTech COVID Project as a response to the problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The HackTech COVID started with an online hackathon, where students and professionals from various professions came together virtually to create solutions to three challenges – Protect our lives, Protect our community and Protect our jobs.
The hackathon was successfully developed from April 17 to 19 and had a global impact by having more than 1000 contestants and mentors from all continents. The teams met for more than 50 hours through different online platforms. In parallel, talks were given that helped the participants to better develop their solutions such as Rapid prototyping, Innovation methodologies, How to make a pitch, Digital Marketing, Women in innovation – to name a few.
At the end of the event, the participants uploaded their solutions on a digital platform, where a committee of evaluators selected three winning projects that will receive a seed capital of $ 1,000 each for the development of their prototypes, a grant for the incubation of their idea and advice for obtaining funds. The evaluation committee selected 12 additional projects that will receive advice in obtaining funds for the implementation of their projects.
???? You can view all the ideas submitted for the hackathon from here.
The goal of the project is to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit of young professionals in the region so that they can propose ideas that allow creating solutions to the needs and problems posed through the realization of sustainable, innovative and competitive business ideas.
