IEEE Women in Engineering International Leadership Summit (WIE ILS) Toronto 2018 was held on the 15th and 16th September at Hilton Mississauga Meadowvale – Canada, with the participation of nearly 150 IEEE members and non-members.
With “STEMpowered Leadership” as this year’s theme, the WIE ILS Toronto 2018 aimed to inspire young women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields through two days of engaging presentations, panels, and workshops. Objectives of this summit were aligned with the vision of the IEEE WIE initiative, which is to support and empower women in STEM around the world by providing opportunities for networking, mentorship, and collaboration.
During the summit, there were tracks focussed on leadership, future technologies, entrepreneurship, empowerment, and innovation complemented by keynote speakers and specialized panel discussions. The list of speakers was rich in diverse expertise and skills from across many sectors. The summit saw a balanced cross-section of students, young professionals, and seasoned experts. The panel discussion entitled, “Future of Artificial Intelligence, Future of our World”, was particularly well-received and involved significant engagement with the audience. Conversations about topics brought up throughout the panels continued well into the networking sessions that followed.
WIE ILS Toronto 2018 was able to achieve its goal of helping to inspire young women in STEM with the support of its sponsors and partners including IEEE Young Professionals, speakers, the attendees and the volunteers. ✅ ????
