LETs Talk Session at Sri Lanka SYW Congress 2018

LETs Talk was a project initiated with the aim of enhancing the knowledge of Young Professionals by delivering technical and non-technical talks with prominent personals in society. The participants will find the opportunity to listen to eminent professionals to gain and share expert knowledge. The speakers will explain opportunities, barriers, failures, success stories while educating the members about the common mistakes a student could make as they step into a career. Each session is structured, enabling the audience to interact with the speaker followed by the talk. This initiative is not only for IEEE Young Professionals but also for interested individuals with an engineering background behind them, including recent graduates and final year undergraduates. Importance of professional behaviour in the industry and how young professionals as an organisation, will guide its members through the process will be emphasised in sessions, thus IEEE members will continue as being a member of Young Professionals.

LETs Talk session in Sri Lanka Student | YP| WIE (SYW) Congress 2018 was held on 29th of December, 2018 from 3.00 PM to 4.30 PM in Sri Lanka Technological Campus, Padukka, Sri Lanka. The session was driven with three inspiring speeches by well-recognized professionals in the industry and was attended by 270+ participants including both IEEE members and non-members.

The first speech was on the topic, Personal Financial Planning, covering all the aspects of financial freedom. This was followed by an informative speech on Power Equity, it’s issued in the country and solutions that can be taken to overcome such issues. LETs Talk session concluded on the topic “Are you graduated?” focusing on the importance of communication as a professional in the industry. At the end of each speech, speakers created an open discussion with the audience as well.

IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanks is planning to hold many more LETs Talk sessions in coming years!
