IEEE Young Professionals(YP) Tokyo Affinity Group celebrated their 10th Anniversary on December 1st 2018 at the Nihon University, College of Humanities and Sciences. The event’s focus was to look into the highlights of the YP Tokyo Affinity Group during the past 10 years and to gather suggestions for future activities and direction. It was co-organised by IEEE YP Tokyo Affinity Group, Keio University Student Branch, Meiji University Student Branch, and Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology Student Branch.
The key talks of the event were arranged into the theme ‘Why I participated in YP activities’, where volunteers shared their motivation and experience with YP Tokyo Affinity Group. The main two takeaways from the key talks were – (1) YP Tokyo Affinity Group should be a place not only connecting student members to their professional stage but also connecting student members, Women in Engineering members, Life members and post YP members, and (2) YP Tokyo should be a place where YP volunteers can grow while enjoying its activities.
An interactive session took place where the participants were divided into nine diverse groups to discuss and present future YP activities under the theme ‘If I am the YP Tokyo chair’. Interesting ideas such as how to find life partner through YP, and how to bridge the gap between YP and student branches were presented in addition to trailblazing event ideas.
The event concluded with a networking session where the participants were able to enjoy food and drinks – especially the variety of Japanese Sake served by Young ‘’Sake” Professional members. Also, a traditional ‘Kagamiwari’ ceremony was performed by several IEEE members to start the evening’s proceedings.
IEEE YP Tokyo Affinity group is thankful for their sponsors, co-organisers and attendees for making the event a success! ????
